A: Unfortunately, no. Tax laws have become so complex that we feel we cannot properly serve our business clients unless we engage for year-round support. We created these programs to provide the key things a business owner needs to save money, stay compliant, and feel secure.
A: Our business model is focused on service-based businesses and trusts/estates in California because that is where we can provide the most value to our community. We will do the individual return for a Partner or Shareholder if we are doing the business return, but we no longer accept stand-alone individual return clients.
A: Throughout the year the government sends taxpayers letters giving them information, telling them something is wrong, advising of a payment due, etc. Those letters can be scary and often taxpayers have no idea what the IRS or FTB is talking about (and worse, often the letters are wrong!) So, under our tax program, you just send those notices to us and we reply to them for free. This service does not cover a formal audit so if you get selected for audit, then that would be a separate engagement.
A: Yes. We do offer stand-alone bookkeeping services for business owners.
We do not do payroll in-house but we do have a preferred pricing arrangement with ADP for our clients.
A: S-Corp and C-Corp owner/employees are required to pay themselves reasonable compensation via W2 wages. If they do not, then in an audit the IRS could reclassify their tax free distributions or dividends as taxable wages. This could lead to additional tax, interest, and penalties on your payroll, business, and personal tax returns. Despite what you may read, there is no “rule of thumb” of what reasonable comp is. It should be determined by doing a survey of the services provided by the shareholder/employee to the Corporation to ensure they are being paid commensurate to what a third party would be paid. We partner with a company to do a survey of your services and provide a reasonable comp analysis to defend your wages with the IRS.
