When am I going to get my check?

When will I get my Check?

The IRS announced yesterday that the 2020 Recovery Rebate Checks will go out in the next three weeks with no action required by most taxpayers.

Where will it get deposited?

The government will use your direct deposit info on file. If your bank information has changed or you didn’t use direct deposit in 2018 or 2019 the government plans to set up a website to get your bank info so you can get direct deposit. If you do not have direct deposit info on file, you will get a paper check. The paper checks will not arrive within three weeks, they will come later because the Government Accounting Office is limited on the number of checks they can print in a day.

What if I did not file a tax return?

[UPDATED 4/2/2020] The IRS will use the information on the Form SSA-1099 or Form RRB-1099 to generate Economic Impact Payments to recipients of benefits reflected in the Form SSA-1099 or Form RRB-1099 who are not required to file a tax return and did not file a return for 2019 or 2019. This includes senior citizens, Social Security recipients and railroad retirees who are not otherwise required to file a tax return.
Since the IRS would not have information regarding any dependents for these people, each person would receive $1,200 per person, without the additional amount for any dependents at this time

Do I have to do this right away?

The rebate check is actually a 2020 rebate that you are able to get early. So, you have plenty of time to file your returns to get your rebate.
